MJF Calls Out Recently Released Andrade, Escalates Feuds With Místico And Mark Briscoe

Hours after reports surfaced that Andrade El Idolo was no longer with WWE, AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) posted a message on social media directed at the free agent. In the post, MJF mentioned his own upcoming match in Mexico for the promotion Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) and invited Andrade to be there.

In his post on X, MJF wrote: “Ay yo @AndradeElIdolo. Ima be in Mexico beating the ever loving shit out of Mistico @CMLL_OFICIAL infront of all your broke ass country men. Lmk if you wanna grab a marg before I hope on my jet to Toronto to whoop mark briscoes hillbilly ass.”

The rivalry between MJF and Místico began after MJF attacked him following a match taped for Ring of Honor, which led to Místico issuing a challenge. The two are now scheduled to face each other in a Title vs. Mask match at the upcoming CMLL 92nd Anniversary show. The post also mentions MJF’s ongoing feud with Mark Briscoe, whom he is scheduled to face at AEW’s All Out pay-per-view in Toronto.

This social media post is notable given Andrade’s history in Mexico. Before signing with WWE’s NXT brand in 2015, Andrade, wrestling under the name La Sombra, was a top star in CMLL. He was a founding member of the Los Ingobernables faction and held multiple championships, including the CMLL World Tag Team and Universal Championships.

CMLL, founded in 1933, is the world’s oldest active professional wrestling promotion. It is one of the largest wrestling companies in Mexico and has a long history in the industry.

MJF’s appearance in CMLL is part of a working relationship that AEW has established with the Mexican promotion. In recent years, AEW has formed partnerships with several international companies, including New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Mexico’s AAA Lucha Libre. The relationship with CMLL allows for talent exchanges and crossover matches, such as MJF’s upcoming bout with Místico.
