Paul Heyman Talks Becky Lynch Joining The Vision: “We Had To Go To Plan B”

The conclusion to the Clash in Paris premium live event saw Becky Lynch help her husband, Seth Rollins, retain the World Heavyweight Championship by screwing over CM Punk in the process. Now, both Rollins and the “Wise Man” of his faction, The Vision, Paul Heyman, have commented on the new alliance.

The main event of Clash in Paris was a chaotic fatal four-way match that saw Rollins defend his title against CM Punk, Jey Uso, and LA Knight. The finish came when Becky Lynch interfered, delivering a low blow to CM Punk, which allowed Rollins to secure the victory. The move officially aligned “The Man” with her husband’s faction, The Vision, a group that also includes Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman. The group has been a dominant force on Monday Night Raw since its formation.

While speaking on ESPN’s “First Take,” Seth Rollins was asked by Stephen A. Smith how long the on-screen partnership with his wife had been in the works. “Oh, I mean, look, we are a force behind the scenes at all times, two of the greatest to ever do it in our respective divisions. You know, the time had come. Time had come. It made the most sense,” Rollins said. “And look, she’s family. She’s got my back I got her back. I don’t know if we’ve been working it up for a long time, but the conversations have been in place for many months leading to the moment.”

Stephen A. Smith then turned to Paul Heyman, asking for his role in the formation of the alliance. Heyman explained that it was a necessary “Plan B” that was enacted after he was attacked by Roman Reigns at the same event.

“All right, everything to do with it. I’ll reveal it to you right now. It came together because of me. Would you like to know why? Because Roman Reigns choked my ass out. That’s why,” Heyman stated. “We had to go to plan B, which was plan Becky. You can’t leave the champ out there all by himself.” The attack from Reigns on Heyman occurred earlier in the show, after Reigns had defeated Bronson Reed.

The new alliance between Rollins and Lynch has set the stage for a mixed tag team match against CM Punk and AJ Lee the upcoming Wrestlepalooza premium live event on September 20. The full interview with Seth Rollins and Paul Heyman can be seen on ESPN’s “First Take.”
