WATCH: Former AEW Star Working On WWE 2K Game

Alan Angels, known for his time in AEW as a member of The Dark Order, has revealed his involvement in the development of the WWE 2K video game series. In a post made to his Twitter account, Angels shared video footage of himself in a motion capture suit, performing wrestling moves on a padded mat.

This type of work is essential for creating realistic animations that are a signature of the franchise. While this does not mean he’s under a talent contract with WWE, it shows that Angels’ in-ring skills are being utilized to help build the next installment of the game. Wrestlers outside of a major company’s main roster are often contracted for motion capture work.

Trained by AR Fox, Angels made his professional debut in 2016 and made a name for himself on the independent circuit before signing with AEW in 2020. He was introduced to the AEW audience through a match against Kenny Omega on an episode of AEW Dynamite, after which he was recruited into The Dark Order faction under the name “Five”. He remained a staple of the group and a regular on both Dynamite and AEW Dark until his contract with the company expired in June 2022.

Following his departure from AEW, Angels joined TNA, then known as Impact Wrestling, in November 2022 as part of Violent by Design, which later became known as The Design. After leaving the group in July 2023, he had a notable run that included winning an Ultimate X match at the Impact 1000 event to earn a shot at the TNA X Division Championship.

Since his departure from TNA in early 2025, Angels has remained active on the independent circuit. He is the current reigning Prestige Wrestling World Champion and successfully defended the title last weekend against Drexl at the “Roseland 8” event in Portland, Oregon.

After a poor reception to the WWE 2K20 title, the main series took a two-year hiatus, returning with the successful WWE 2K22, which was praised for its rebuilt game engine and improved mechanics.
