During his appearance on the “Bussin’ With The Boys” podcast, WWE Superstar The MizĀ opened up about his relationship with his father, George, and shared the one simple experience he wishes they could have together.
A Simple Wish
While discussing what he would “do anything for,” The Miz bypassed material things and spoke from the heart about a private moment with his dad.
“I would give anything to have a dinner with my dad, and just my dad. He will not do it,” The Miz shared. He explained that his father is incredibly proud of him, but that pride manifests in a way that prevents them from having a quiet, one-on-one meal. “I’ll go, ‘Dad, let’s just go to dinner.’… I go to that dinner, there’s 45 people. These are all his friends… He just doesn’t get that I just want to hang out with him. And it almost feels like, ‘Do you not want to hang out with me?'”
The Motivation Behind the Wish
The Miz explained that as his father gets older, the desire for these moments has grown stronger. He referenced reading about the finite number of times most adults get to see their aging parents, a thought that has stuck with him.
“My dad’s getting older, and I read something. The Internet is a crazy place, right? Once you start scrolling, man, you get sucked in… I don’t live in Cleveland. I live in Las Vegas. Now I’m gonna see my dad. How many times? He’s 70 something years old. How many times will I see him?”
The Bet for a Priceless Dinner
This upcoming round of golf has inspired a plan. The Miz revealed that he intends to make a bet with his father, with the dinner as the grand prize.
“I think my bet is going to be, if I win, he has to have dinner with me,” The Miz stated. “But if he wins, I’ll do an autograph signing for him, wherever, whenever.” This bet, he hopes, will finally secure the quiet, personal moment he has been longing for with the man who famously shared a viral moment with him at WrestleMania. Even though his dad has stood in a WWE ring, The Miz is still seeking that simple dinner table connection.
