According to a new report, the main event for tomorrow night’s inaugural WWE Wrestlepalooza premium live event has been set. The insider account WrestleVotes reported on X that the Undisputed WWE Championship match will close the show.
“Sources confirms the main event for WrestlePalooza tomorrow night will be Drew McIntyre vs Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship,” the account posted on Friday evening. This confirmation provides a clearer picture of the structure for WWE’s first-ever premium live event to air on the ESPN platform.
The report on the main event follows an official announcement made earlier this week on “The Pat McAfee Show” that the highly-publicized match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar will be the opening contest of the night.
The main event pits Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes against Drew McIntyre. The match was made official on last week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown after Rhodes returned to confront McIntyre following the latter’s victory over Randy Orton. A contract signing between the two competitors is scheduled for tonight’s broadcast of SmackDown.
The rest of the card for Wrestlepalooza features several other championship bouts and marquee matchups. In a mixed tag team match, the returning AJ Lee will team with her husband CM Punk to take on the married couple of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. A new Women’s World Champion will also be crowned as IYO SKY is scheduled to face Stephanie Vaquer for the vacant title.
Also expected for the show is a Triple Threat Match for the WWE Women’s Championship, which would see champion Tiffany Stratton defend her title against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax. The match’s status was previously uncertain due to reports that Stratton was not medically cleared, but she was seen arriving at the arena for tonight’s SmackDown, suggesting the match is likely to be made official. In another major tag team contest, the recently reunited Usos will face The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
