WATCH: WWE Wrestlepalooza Cold Open Video Package Released

On the morning of the inaugural WWE Wrestlepalooza, Chief Content Officer Triple H released a new hype video to build final hype for what is being positioned as a major event for the company. The video package highlights both the stacked card for tonight’s premium live event and the launch of WWE’s new five-year partnership with ESPN. The narration, delivered by Triple H, speaks to the modern era of WWE and the company’s philosophy under his creative direction, which blurs the lines of what’s real and scripted.

The video features a statement from Triple H about the nature of today’s WWE product. “Those time-worn lines between what’s scripted and what’s not… between athletics and amusement… don’t apply anymore”.  Wrestlepalooza marks a significant business shift for WWE, as it is the first premium live event to air on the new ESPN Unlimited streaming platform, officially moving the company’s PLEs away from Peacock in the US.

The revival of the “Wrestlepalooza” name, once a flagship event for ECW, is also a signal that WWE views tonight’s show as the start of a new, major annual tradition on its calendar.  The card for tonight’s show from Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis is headlined by Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes defending his title against Drew McIntyre. It was also announced that the show will open with a match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar, which is Lesnar’s first match in two years.

The event will also feature the in-ring return of AJ Lee for the first time since 2015, as she teams with her husband CM Punk to face Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch. A new Women’s World Champion will be crowned when Iyo Sky takes on Stephanie Vaquer, and The Usos will face The Vision’s Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.
