With only a few hours remaining until the inaugural WWE Wrestlepalooza premium live event, fans have been given a first look at the stage setup for the show. A photo circulating on social media has revealed the stage inside the Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana. The image showcases a setup featuring a narrow lane for the entrance ramp, flanked by a large video screen, with the signature Wrestlepalooza logo displayed. This is the usual setup for the stage instead of using a smaller set as seen in the past.
WWE is treating Wrestlepalooza as a major event, not just because of its stacked card, but because it officially kicks off the company’s new five-year, billion-dollar partnership with ESPN. The show marks the first time a WWE premium live event will air on the new ESPN Unlimited streaming platform.
Several matches are set to take place. In a match that was announced to open the show, John Cena will face Brock Lesnar for the first time in over a decade, with Lesnar competing in his first match in two years. The main event will see Cody Rhodes defend his Undisputed WWE Championship against Drew McIntyre.
CM Punk will team with his wife, AJ Lee, who is returning to the ring for the first time since 2015, to take on the husband-and-wife duo of Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch, and the tag team clash between The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) and Bron Breakker & Bronson Reed. Also on tap is the vacant Women’s World Championship, which will be decided in a match between IYO SKY and Stephanie Vaquer.
