There Is Concern WWE Star’s Injury Could Be Career-Ending

A concerning update is out regarding the status of Piper Niven, who has been out of action with an injury since late August. On a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez reported that there is concern within WWE that Niven’s injury could potentially be career-threatening. This follows an initial report from Fightful Select that confirmed Niven was injured, though the specific nature and severity of the injury have not been publicly disclosed.

“There’s concern that it could be career-ending, so whatever it is, I mean, it’s serious,” Alvarez said. “Hopefully she can come back, but she is out due to injury”. Niven has been absent from WWE television since the August 22 episode of SmackDown, which was taped in Dublin, Ireland.

Her last televised match was a significant singles victory over one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Charlotte Flair, approximately one month ago. Niven is currently part of a popular tag team with Chelsea Green known as “The Secret Hervice.” The duo was formed in August 2023 after Green’s original partner, Sonya Deville, suffered a torn ACL.

Niven declared herself Green’s new partner, and they went on to have a reign as the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions. Before Niven’s injury, the team was embroiled in a feud with the current champions, Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss. To explain her absence on-screen, Green made an in-character social media post stating that her partner was away on a “top-secret special assignment” and that the “Secret Hervice” was accepting applications for a fill-in.

With Niven’s return timeline unknown and the injury now reported to be potentially serious, the future of her tag team with Chelsea Green is uncertain. On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Chelsea Green teamed with fellow Scottish wrestler Alba Fyre to challenge Flair and Bliss for the tag team titles, though they were unsuccessful. We wish Niven a speedy recovery.
