WWE Stars Make Debut At Pro Wrestling NOAH Event

The partnership between WWE and Pro Wrestling NOAH has been put on display yet again, as NXT Superstars Charlie Dempsey and Harlem Lewis made a surprise debut for Pro Wrestling NOAH on Tuesday morning. The duo appeared in the ring at the Korakuen Hall during the N1 Finals event, where Dempsey announced that they will be competing in a series of matches for the Japanese promotion over the next month.

During his in-ring address, Charlie Dempsey, the son of wrestling legend William Regal, laid out their immediate plans in NOAH. He announced that he and his fellow NXT star, Harlem Lewis, will first face each other in a singles match on October 4 in Nagoya. Following that, they will team up to take on a yet-to-be-named Pro Wrestling NOAH team at the Wrestle Odyssey event on October 11, which will be held at the Ryogoku Sumo Hall.

Dempsey also teased a third match at Korakuen Hall, though a specific date for that bout was not given. The appearance was set up on last week’s episode of WWE NXT, where Dempsey informed his No Quarter Catch Crew stablemate, Wren Sinclair, that he would be heading to Japan for a month and that she needed to “hold the fort down” in his absence.

This was an on-screen explanation for his upcoming international excursion. While Dempsey has been a featured performer on NXT television as part of the No Quarter Catch Crew, Harlem Lewis is a newer talent who has yet to make his official NXT TV debut. He has been featured on the second season of WWE LFG and has competed in several matches on NXT’s developmental show, NXT Level Up.

This talent exchange with Pro Wrestling NOAH is the latest example of WWE’s new willingness to work with other promotions under the creative direction of Paul “Triple H” Levesque. The partnership with TNA has already produced several memorable moments, including Jordynne Grace, while serving as the TNA Knockouts Champion, competing in the Royal Rumble, and TNA star Joe Hendry becoming a regular on NXT programming. He also got to work with Randy Orton at WrestleMania this year.
