On his Six Feet Under podcast, The Undertaker took a moment to address one of the most infamous fashion choices of his legendary career: the snakeskin pants he wore for a WWE Championship match against Kurt Angle at Survivor Series 2000. The Deadman was in full agreement with the years of fan criticism, admitting the attire was a huge mistake.
“I am on board with everyone else that that was probably one of the worst wardrobe decisions that I ever made,” The Undertaker said. “They were horrible. They were horrid.”
I never watched WWE for the fashion but these snakeskin pants were certainly a bold choice from Undertaker… pic.twitter.com/23htIpjS20

He revealed that he knew he had made a mistake the moment he put them on, but it was too late to change. “Yes, there was. There was instant regret when I put them on, and the even more regret when I knew that I didn’t have a backup pair,” he explained. “I didn’t have my black regular pants that I normally would wear. So I was left with no other option other than to wear the snakeskin pants.”
The idea for the unique gear came from a desire to do something different, with The Undertaker believing it would be a memorable look. “I thought it was going to be the absolute coolest badass thing that anyone had ever seen,” he admitted. He recalled that WWE’s seamstress, Terry Anderson, tried to persuade him not to go through with it. “She tried her hardest to talk me out of those pants. And I was so dead set on how cool they were going to be… I remember the day, and she came up to me, she goes, ‘your stuff’s ready.’ And normally she’s pretty excited… I could just see it in her face, like she was just like, ‘I don’t even want to give you these pants, but it’s what you asked for.’”
The fan reaction was not what he had envisioned. “I’m looking at them, and it still hadn’t dawned on me yet, like, ‘Oh yeah, people are gonna lose their minds when they see me come out tonight.’ Oh, and they did. They were like, ‘What in the hell is this man wearing? Does he not know that men his size do not wear snakeskin pants?’” Today, he believes the pants are likely “in the bottom of a landfill somewhere.”
Despite the questionable attire, the match is remembered as a classic from that era, though it ended in controversy after Angle’s brother switched places with him to retain the title.
