Tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite will feature the fallout from this past weekend’s All Out pay-per-view. The show, which will air live from the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, PA, is scheduled to feature the new AEW Women’s World Champion Kris Statlander in her first title defense, a major trios match, and an “important announcement” from AEW President and CEO Tony Khan.
Just four days after winning the title, Kris Statlander will put the AEW Women’s World Championship on the line against Interim ROH Women’s World TV Champion Mina Shirakawa. This will be the first-ever singles match between the two competitors.
Statlander won the championship this past Saturday at All Out by pinning “Timeless” Toni Storm in a four-way match. The victory made her the first woman in AEW history to have held both the AEW Women’s World Championship and the TBS Championship. The ongoing storyline involving Wheeler Yuta and his attempts to align with Statlander is also a factor to watch for during the match.
A major trios match has also been announced for tonight’s show. Mark Briscoe will team with Hologram and a mystery partner from The Conglomeration to take on The Don Callis Family, represented by AEW Unified Champion Kazuchika Okada, Konosuke Takeshita, and Hechicero. Briscoe issued the challenge at All Out following his Tables N’ Tacks Match victory over MJF.
There are two key storylines surrounding this match. The first is the identity of the mystery partner, who was teased to be a returning Orange Cassidy. During the challenge at All Out, Mark Briscoe asked Kyle O’Reilly if the partner was ready, to which O’Reilly relayed the message, “Whatever”. The second is the potential for dissension within the Don Callis Family, as Okada and Takeshita were opponents at All Out and had a brief staredown after the match.
Finally, AEW President and CEO Tony Khan is scheduled to make an “important announcement” live during the Dynamite broadcast. No details on the nature of the announcement have been provided.
