AEW Announces Women’s Tag Team Championship On Dynamite

On the September 24, 2025 episode of AEW Dynamite, AEW President Tony Khan made a major announcement regarding the company’s women’s division. During a backstage segment, Khan expressed his pride in how the division has grown and performed throughout the year. He stated that AEW will soon introduce a new championship: the AEW Women’s Tag Team titles.

This marks the first time AEW has formally recognized a women’s tag team championship since its founding in 2019. The announcement comes after months of speculation and fan interest, especially as the women’s division has expanded its roster and featured more tag team matches in recent programming. AEW has previously focused on singles competition for its female talent, with the AEW Women’s World Championship and the TBS Championship serving as the primary titles.

Following Khan’s statement, AEW broadcaster Rene Paquette appeared on screen to unveil the new championship belts.

AEW has not yet announced a tournament or match format to determine the inaugural champions, but the reveal suggests that plans are already in motion.

The addition of the AEW Women’s Tag Team Championship reflects AEW’s continued investment in its women’s division. With more airtime and storyline development given to female wrestlers in 2025, the new titles are likely to play a key role in shaping future rivalries and expanding opportunities for talent across the roster.
