Randy Orton Saves Cody Rhodes From 2-on-1 Assault, Drops Bronson Reed With RKO On WWE SmackDown

The opening segment of SmackDown opened with a brawl between Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton against Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed.

In the ring, Cody asked Heyman if he was talking to the Oracle, the Wise Man, or to the Advocate. Heyman said he’s talking to the GOAT. Heyman said Brock Lesnar is not here tonight, but Cody is in danger. Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker entered the ring. Cody told Breakker that nobody has figured out who Heyman is loyal to, but it’s not him. Breakker ripped off his shirt.

Cody said they way they are looking at him, it looks like they want a fight and began punching Breakker and Reed. Breakker and Reed took over on Cody. They stopped when Randy Orton came down. Reed tried to stop Orton in the aisle but got beat up. Orton then went to the ring and punched Breakker. Orton went for the RKO on Breakker. Breakker pushed him off and Orton hit Reed who got back in the ring with the RKO.

The numbers game quickly caught up to Cody, as Reed and Breakker gained control of the fight. Their assault was interrupted when Randy Orton’s music hit and he stormed down the aisle. Reed attempted to intercept Orton but was met with a beatdown. Orton then entered the ring and targeted Breakker with a punch.

Orton attempted to deliver his RKO to Breakker, but Breakker managed to shove him off. Reed, recovering from the earlier attack, re-entered the ring only to be caught by Orton’s RKO. When Orton grabbed the belt to give to Cody, you could see Orton getting a good look at it. They’ve teased this off and on for over a year so that appears to be the direction at some point in the future.
