The latest broadcast of MLW Fury Road, which streamed last night on the promotion’s YouTube page, opened with Cesar Duran (Dario Cueto in Lucha Underground) taking a direct shot at WWE’s international business dealings. During his opening promo alongside Salina de la Renta in Dallas, Texas, Duran contrasted MLW’s event with other companies’. He didn’t mention WWE by name but it’s pretty clear who he was talking about.
“While some other company packs up their big show and shipped it off to Saudi Arabia to take that blood money, we come here with the real deal right here in Texas!” Duran stated. Salina de la Renta added to the sentiment, telling the crowd, “Remember, that at Major League Wrestling, we don’t play soft. We don’t play safe. We choose violence!”.

The event also featured three first-round matches for the Opera Cup tournament. In his first MLW match in six years, Austin Aries defeated Kushida to advance. Paul London was also victorious, submitting Okumura to move on in the tournament. In the third tournament bout, Volador Jr. defeated Titan after ripping off Titan’s mask and rolling him up for the pin.
In other singles action, Shotzi Blackheart defeated Alejandra Quintanilla after hitting a top-rope flying senton. Veteran Satoshi Kojima picked up a win against Mr. Thomas in a lightning match that had a 10-minute time limit. Kojima won after hitting a hard clothesline.
The show opened with a trios match that saw the team of Diego Hill, Atlantis, and MLW National Champion Blue Panther defeat “Galeón de Fantasma” Zandokan Jr., Difunto, and Barboza. The main event segment featured a brawl between MLW Champion Mads “Krule” Krugger and the World Titan Federation Tag Team Champions, Bishop Dyer and Donovan Dijak, which resulted in their scheduled match never officially starting.
Several segments advanced future storylines. Alexander Hammerstone declared his intention to take the MLW World Championship picture “into my own hands”. After their respective Opera Cup victories, Austin Aries and Paul London brawled backstage, setting up their second-round match for next week. Matches for MLW’s Slaughterhouse event on October 4th were also announced, including Hammerstone vs. Matt Riddle and Shoko Nakajima vs. Himawari. If you missed it, check out Duran’s promo below.
