Former WWE Universal Champion Adam Scherr, known to wrestling fans as Braun Strowman, has his sights set on a new, terrifying role: Jason Voorhees. In a recent interview with Collider’s Perri Nemiroff to promote his role in the new film Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, Scherr revealed his ambition to become the next actor to don the iconic hockey mask of the Friday the 13th slasher.
When asked which iconic horror franchise he would like to be a part of, Scherr’s response was definitive. “Oh, Friday the 13th. Jason,” he said, adding that he would “gladly shave this beard off to play that character.” He then went a step further, hinting at the possibility that his dream role could become a reality.
“There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency. If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees.” While the feature film franchise has been dormant for over a decade, the world of Friday the 13th is being revived on the small screen with the upcoming Peacock and A24 prequel series, Crystal Lake. This new series has brought the iconic slasher back into the public conversation.
At 6-foot-8 and over 300 pounds, Scherr certainly has the physical presence to bring a new level of terror to the role of Jason Voorhees, and his experience as a physical performer in WWE would make him a natural fit for the action-heavy demands of a slasher film.
Before he potentially heads to Camp Crystal Lake, Adam Scherr will be seen in the horror-comedy sequel Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon, where he plays a security guard. The film, which recently had its world premiere at Fantastic Fest, is the follow-up to the cult classic 2015 film Deathgasm. Scherr’s burgeoning acting career is his new focus after his second departure from WWE.
His last run with the company saw him return in 2022 after being released in 2021. He had a solid run on the SmackDown brand before being released once again in May 2025.
