WWE Star Slated To Undergo Surgery

WWE NXT Superstar Ridge Holland suffered a serious foot injury during a TNA television taping in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The injury occurred this past weekend during a match against former TNA World Champion Moose. Holland landed awkwardly on his left leg and was immediately unable to put any weight on it, leading to the match being stopped.

He was then helped to the back by officials and his opponent, Moose. Holland has since taken to social media to confirm the nature of the injury and his impending surgery. “Lisfranc Injury…Surgery Friday,” he tweeted. “See ya in abit”.

A Lisfranc injury affects the middle part of the foot, involving the bones and ligaments that are crucial for stabilizing the arch and transferring force while walking or running. This type of injury is severe and often requires a lengthy recovery period. Depending on the extent of the damage, recovery from surgery can take anywhere from six months to a full year, which means Holland will be sidelined for a considerable amount of time.

The injury is a devastating turn of events for the WWE star, who had been heavily featured on NXT programming and was a key player in the cross-promotional angle with TNA. Holland’s presence in TNA was directly tied to the main event storyline for their biggest show of the year, Bound for Glory. At the TNA Victory Road event last Friday, Holland lost to Mike Santana in a match where the story was that Holland was trying to injure Santana on behalf of the reigning TNA World Champion, NXT’s Trick Williams.

Holland was unsuccessful in taking Santana out, but he did assist Williams in a post-match beatdown.  Since signing with WWE in 2018, the former professional rugby player has competed across all of WWE’s brands, including NXT UK, the main roster, and the recently revived Evolve brand.

With his surgery now scheduled, the focus for Ridge Holland will shift entirely to his recovery and rehabilitation. We wish him a speedy recovery.
