Big E: The “Eddie Guerrero Spot” Now Belongs To Dominik Mysterio

Former WWE Champion Big E believes that the “lie, cheat, steal” spot, made famous by the legendary Eddie Guerrero, should now be exclusively owned by Dominik Mysterio. Speaking on the Raw Recap show, Big E praised “Dirty Dom” for his execution of the classic spot and argued that it has become so synonymous with his character that other wrestlers should “leave it alone.”

The spot in question involves a wrestler tossing a steel chair or a championship belt to their opponent and then dramatically falling to the ground as if they have been struck, in an attempt to get the opponent disqualified by the referee. It was a signature tactic of the beloved WWE Hall of Famer, Eddie Guerrero. Dominik Mysterio has adopted the move as a key part of his own act, using it to win matches and further get heat.

Big E feels that Mysterio has perfected it to the point where it should be his alone. “I love the Eddie spot, but it can lose its appeal if you see it over and over again. I think it’s Dominik’s spot now,” Big E said. “I think Dominik has the right to the Eddie spot, and everyone else has to leave it alone. It’s Dom’s exclusively; he’s been killing it, it’s his.”

Dominik attempted to use the tactic on the most recent episode of Monday Night Raw during his Intercontinental Championship defense against Rusev. The storyline connection between Dominik Mysterio and Eddie Guerrero runs deep. In 2005, a young Dominik was the subject of a memorable feud between his father, Rey Mysterio, and Eddie Guerrero, which culminated in a “Ladder Match for the Custody of Dominik” at SummerSlam.

Now, as a heel, Dominik has often claimed that the late Guerrero is his “real” father, a statement designed to disrespect his actual father, Rey Mysterio, and to further align himself with the legacy of Guerrero.
