Jack Perry Teases A Darker Version Of Jurassic Express

After a long absence, Jack Perry is back in AEW, and he’s ready to unleash a new, darker version of Jurassic Express. Perry made his surprise return at the All Out pay-per-view earlier this month, where he reunited with his long-time tag team partner, Luchasaurus, after being away from television since late 2024.

In a new interview with Vice, Perry spoke about the reunion, his character’s evolution, and his vision for the team’s future, promising a “darker vibe” for the once fan-favorite duo. The reunion is a full-circle moment for the team, who were one of the most popular acts in AEW’s early days.

During his time away, Perry had been leaning into the “Scapegoat” persona, a character he found interesting because of the mixed reactions it received. “It was interesting with the Scapegoat thing because I would get a mixed reaction. At certain times, I almost felt like a babyface. My idea was, I’m not the bad guy, I’m really the ultimate good guy here,” Perry said.

He explained that he enjoys blurring the lines between good and evil and plans to bring that ambiguity to the reunited Jurassic Express. “I think it’s more interesting when it’s not so black and white and I think even if it’s leaning more towards the babyface side, I think there’s definitely a darker vibe with both of us than there was before. It’s a story, it’s always evolving. We are evolving. The sort of world that we are in is evolving. I think the more we can be open to that the more interesting it’ll be and the better it is.”

Perry told Vice that a reunion with Luchasaurus was always in the cards, and he also confirmed that their popular “Tarzan Boy” theme music is here to stay for this new run. The duo, who held the AEW World Tag Team Championship together in 2022, will make their official in-ring return on this Wednesday’s sixth-anniversary episode of AEW Dynamite, though their opponents have not yet been announced. For Perry, it will be the end of the longest layoff of his entire career.

“In terms of physicality, this is the longest that I’ve gone [without wrestling] in my life since I was like 16 or 17 years old,” Perry said. “I’m sure it’s gonna feel absolutely horrible the day after my first match back; that’s just part of the game. But I’m looking forward to it.”

The original Jurassic Express, which also included Marko Stunt, was one of the foundational acts of AEW. The team’s split was a major storyline, with Perry turning on his partners and Luchasaurus eventually aligning himself with Christian Cage, a period that saw both men achieve singles success as TNT Champion. Their reunion at All Out, which saw them lay out The Young Bucks.
