A new report has provided clarity on the status of AEW star Hologram, who was written off television this past weekend. Following questions regarding the legitimacy of his on-screen injury, PWInsider reported that “Hologram is believed to have been written off TV due to a knee issue”.
Hologram’s absence from television was explained during the September 27 episode of AEW Collision, where he was the subject of a backstage attack by TNT Champion Kyle Fletcher. Following the segment, AEW President Tony Khan tweeted that Hologram had sustained “significant injuries” and was “likely is out the rest of 2025”.
The storyline attack had an immediate effect on AEW programming, as Hologram was scheduled to challenge Fletcher for the TNT Championship on this Wednesday’s episode of AEW Dynamite. It was subsequently announced that Orange Cassidy will take his place in the title match.
This is the second time in the past year that Hologram has been written off television due to an injury. He was previously absent from October 2024 through February 2025 after suffering a legitimate ankle injury at the WrestleDream pay-per-view event. That absence also coincided with the birth of his child.
Prior to this reported knee issue, Hologram had been presented as a prominent star in AEW. Since the character was introduced in July 2024, he has been undefeated in both singles and tag team competition. He competed as recently as the September 24 episode of Dynamite, where he was on the winning side of a trios match.
With the PWInsider report suggesting a real injury is the cause of his absence, it is expected that Hologram will be out of action until at least early 2026. The on-screen storyline with Kyle Fletcher and Hologram’s nemesis, Clon, whose video preceded the attack, will presumably be revisited upon his return.
