Is Oba Femi Headed To The WWE Main Roster?

Following his loss of the NXT Championship to Ricky Saints at the NXT No Mercy premium live event, speculation has been rampant that Oba Femi could be headed to the WWE main roster. However, according to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the immediate plans for the former champion are still within the NXT brand.

While a main roster call-up is not the current plan, Meltzer was quick to point out that in the modern WWE landscape, plans can change quickly and often with very little notice, leaving the door open for a potential surprise debut on Raw or SmackDown. “This is one of those things where the answer as far as everyone knows is no, in the sense Femi is still in the plans for NXT going forward. However, they do swerve people and tell almost nobody about call-ups a lot of the time so people who should know get blindsided,” Meltzer reported. “So it’s a no as far as just about anyone knows, but there is no such thing as a 100 percent no.”

Oba Femi’s reign as NXT Champion was a dominant one. Femi held the title for an impressive 263 days, a reign that began in early January when he cashed in his NXT Breakout Tournament contract on Dragon Lee. He successfully defended the championship against a host of top challengers.

With his championship reign now over, the path is clear for Oba Femi to move on to new challenges, whether that be on NXT or the main roster. For now, Oba Femi is without a clear, immediate direction on the NXT brand.
