Joe Hendry Set To Appear At NXT Vs. TNA Showdown

Joe Hendry has officially inserted himself into the upcoming NXT vs. TNA “Showdown” special. In a video posted to his social media, the popular TNA star announced that he is coming to the event this Tuesday, October 7, despite not being selected for Team TNA. In the current storyline, Hendry’s loyalty has been questioned by his TNA peers due to his frequent appearances on NXT, which led to Team TNA captain Mike Santana leaving him off the team for the big event. Never one to be left out of the spotlight, Hendry has now made it clear that he will be at the WWE Performance Center for the historic show.

“Joe Hendry changed the entire landscape of NXT vs. TNA. I was the guy that got the call as TNA Champion to be in the Royal Rumble, to face Randy Orton at WrestleMania. My first appearance in NXT was the most-watched video in all of wrestling last year,” Hendry said in his video. “And now you’re going to tell me that I’m not involved in Showdown? No. Guess what? They’re going to say his name — and he is going to appear at Showdown next Tuesday.”

The storyline questioning Hendry’s loyalty mirrors the real-life speculation about his future, as it has been widely reported that he is expected to sign with WWE full-time when his TNA contract expires. TNA President Carlos Silva recently addressed the rumors, confirming that Hendry is still under contract with TNA but adding the ambiguous statement, “he is until he’s not.”

The card for the “NXT vs. TNA Showdown” special is already loaded with a series of matches. The show will feature two 5-on-5 elimination matches, a “title for title” match between the NXT and TNA Tag Team Champions, and an NXT North American Championship defense.
