AEW wrestler and current Ring of Honor Television Champion Nick Wayne is expected to remain sidelined for up to two more months as he continues to recover from a broken foot. The update was revealed during a backstage segment on AEW’s Collision broadcast this past Saturday, where AEW medical staff informed Wayne that his ankle remained swollen, necessitating an additional six to eight weeks of recovery time.
Wayne, 20, has not competed since mid-July. His injury, sustained sometime in August, forced him to withdraw from AEW’s Forbidden Door pay-per-view event. The exact circumstances surrounding the injury have not been disclosed, and it remains unclear whether it occurred during in-ring action or outside of competition.
Despite his absence from active competition, Wayne has maintained a presence on AEW programming. His appearance on Collision marked a continuation of his involvement in backstage segments, though his reaction to the medical update suggested frustration with the prolonged recovery timeline. AEW has not announced any plans to vacate the ROH Television Championship during his absence.
Nick Wayne signed with AEW in 2022 and made his in-ring debut for the promotion in 2023. He is the son of the late independent wrestling standout Buddy Wayne and has been active in professional wrestling since his early teens. His rapid ascent in AEW and ROH has been marked by high-profile matches culminating in his capture of the ROH Television Championship earlier this year.
