Roman Reigns – Bronson Reed match made for Crown Jewel

Roman Reigns made his way to the ring with the crowd chanting, “OTC.” Paul Heyman and Bronson Reed came out of the entrance way. Heyman asked Reigns to acknowledge the one person he fears, and that is Bronson Reed. He reminded Reigns he left on a stretcher at the hands of Reed. Reigns challenged Reed to a match now. Heyman said Reed will take him up on his offer at Crown Jewel in an Australian Street Fight. Reigns accepted.

Reed charged the ring. Reigns hit Reed with a Superman punch and cleared the announce desk. Security tried to stop them before things got out of hand. Reigns broke free and hit Reed with another Superman punch.

Backstage:

Asuka went up to Adam Pearce and insisted he schedule a match between her tag team partner, Kairi Sane, and IYO SKY for later in the night. Pearce said he wasn’t sure if they could fit another match into the show’s schedule. He also noted that Rhea Ripley was already over in Australia doing press.

As soon as Pearce left, Kairi Sane showed up. Asuka told her that she got her a match against IYO SKY for tonight. Kairi looked concerned and said she didn’t want to fight her friend, but Asuka slapped her across the face and told her the match was happening.

Non-title Match: Women’s Intercontinental Champion Becky Lynch vs Maxxine Dupri

Becky threw Maxxine out of the ring and threw her against the barricade and then slammed her against the announce table.

Lynch climbed on top of the table to play to the crowd, but she stopped paying attention to Dupri in the process. While Lynch had her back turned, Dupri rolled back into the ring, beating the referee’s ten-count.

Because Lynch was still outside, the referee counted her out, and Dupri won the match. Dupri celebrated her win while quickly backing up the entrance ramp.

Winner: Maxxine Dupri

Backstage:

Jimmy and Jey Uso told Roman Reigns they have his back at Crown Jewel. Reigns told them he doesn’t need their help, especially from Jey. He reminded Jey that he should be focused on what he’s doing right now and taking his opportunities. Roman asked Jey, “Who will be talking at the top of the hour?” Jey said, “CM Punk”, and walked off. Roman told Jimmy that he sees and hears everything and asked him, “What is the problem with Jey taking advice from him.”

Backstage:

Bayley asked Lyra Valkyria to be in her corner against Roxanne Perez. Lyra asked her how she feels. Bayley said she’s good. Lyra said okay and they shook hands.

Lyra Valkyria (w/Bayley) vs Roxanne Perez (w/Raquel Rodriguez)

Raquel got on the ring apron to distract the referee as well as Lyra. Roxanne tried to give Lyra a suplex but Bayley held onto Lyra’s arm which prevented that from happening. Lyra hit a moonsault on Roxanne for a two-count. Outside the ring, Raquel kicked Bayley in the face. Lyra dove through the ropes with a kick onto Raquel. Roxanne dove through the ropes and caught Lyra with a tornado DDT. Roxanne threw Lyra back in the ring, hit the Pop Rocks, and pinned her.

Winner: Lyra Valkyria

Backstage:

AJ Styles was asked about his upcoming match with John Cena at Crown Jewel. Before Styles could answer, he was interrupted by Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh. Finn Balor said Styles is making a big mistake by wanting to team with Dragon Lee to challenge him and JD for the tag team titles. Styles said he is going to grab Dragon Lee and find another partner to have a six-man tag team match against Dominik, Balor, and McDonagh tonight.

After the break, Styles asked Penta to be his partner tonight and Penta said yes.

Backstage:

Lyra Valkyria and Bayley jumped Raquel Rodriguez. Roxanne Perez came in to help Raquel until officials broke them up.

CM Punk – LA Knight – The Usos confrontation

In the ring, CM Punk said he is going to get his World Title back just like he did to start the year, by beating Seth Rollins. This brought out LA Knight to the ring. He said he still hasn’t got to hold the World Heavyweight Championship. Knight mentioned that Rollins has pinned Punk a number of times. He asked Punk, “Do you know who Rollins never pinned?” Punk said, “I imagine it’s the same guy who’s never, not ever ever been World Heavyweight Champion, right?” This seemed to have thrown Knight off as it took him a while to start talking again.

In the ring, LA Knight said Jey Uso’s time at the top was over. He claimed Jey thinks he lost his recent matches because he wasn’t enough like Roman Reigns. Knight told Jey that not being like Roman is a good thing, and that he should just focus on being a tag team champion. He then added that, based on their track record, The Usos should probably focus on not being a bad tag team first.

That insult brought Jimmy Uso out from the back. While Knight continued to talk, Jey suddenly hit him with a superkick. CM Punk, who was also there, told Jey that Knight was right and that maybe he should stick to tag teams. Punk finished by saying he liked Jey Uso, but he didn’t like “Little Roman.”

Punk and Jey looked like they were about to fight, but Jimmy got in the middle of them. Jey went to throw a superkick at Punk, but Jimmy physically pulled him away. Punk saw the kick attempt and punched Jey. In response, Jimmy turned and laid Punk out with a superkick.

A tag match was made official for tonight with CM Punk and LA Knight facing The Usos. There will also be a six-man match with AJ Styles, Dragon Lee and Penta facing Judgment Day.

IYO SKY vs Kairi Sane (w/ Asuka)

Sane came off the top rope but IYO got her knees up. IYO hit Sane with the Meteora. As IYO went to the top rope, Asuka got on the ring apron. As IYO was punching Asuka, Sane hit IYO from behind and pinned her with Asuka holding onto Sane’s arms for leverage.

Winner: Kairi Sane

After the match, Asuka attacked IYO. Asuka held her while Sane reluctantly gave her the spinning back fist followed by the Insane Elbow.

Part 2 of Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins video history package aired.

Backstage:

Becky Lynch was complaining to Seth Rollins about losing her match to Maxxine Dupri. She was angry about the refereeing and said she was going to find Adam Pearce to tell him she wasn’t going to Australia for the upcoming show unless things changed.

After she walked off, Rollins told Paul Heyman that he absolutely has to beat Cody Rhodes on Saturday. Rollins then asked Heyman to seriously consider what the consequences would be if he were to lose that match.

Heyman laid out the stakes, telling Rollins that a loss would mean losing the respect of the locker room, including key people like Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. He said it would undermine the fact that the entire “Netflix era” of the company had been built around him, and that he would effectively become a secondary champion. Heyman’s advice was simply, “Don’t lose.”

Rollins then asked what Heyman himself would do if he lost. Heyman admitted that he would have to ask himself why he chose to back Rollins, and more importantly, why he chose Rollins over Roman Reigns. With that, Heyman turned and left Rollins alone.

Backstage:

Jey confronted his brother Jimmy, clearly angry about being put in a tag team match. Jey said his focus is on the world title, not tag teams, and that only happened because Jimmy got involved. He then questioned Jimmy’s motives, asking if he was trying to protect CM Punk during their earlier brawl. Jey warned Jimmy to be clear about whose side he was on for their match tonight, then walked away.

Jimmy told Reigns that he and Jey are nothing like him. Reigns replied that if Jimmy really wanted to help his brother, the best thing he could do is get out of Jey’s way.

AJ Styles, Dragon Lee, and Penta vs Dominik Mysterio, Finn Balor, and JD McDonagh

Dominik was going for the 619 on Styles but stopped when he saw Rusev walking to the ring. Dominik tried to escape outside the ring, but Rusev grabbed a hold of him. Penta went to kick Dominik, but Dominik ducked and he struck Rusev. Dominik escaped through the crowd. Back in the ring, Styles hit McDonagh with the Styles Clash and pinned him.

Winners: AJ Styles, Dragon Lee, and Penta

After the match, Styles said his match with John Cena at Crown Jewel doesn’t need a story because it writes itself. It’s two men who will dance for the last time and we will leave it all in the ring, and it will kick ass.

Announced for next week’s Monday Night Raw:

  • Dominik Mysterio will defend the Intercontinental Championship against Penta
  • Bayley and Lyra Valkyria vs Roxanne Perez and Raquel Rodriguez

Backstage:

CM Punk and LA Knight both agreed they don’t want this match tonight. Knight told Punk to not get pinned.

CM Punk & LA Knight vs Jey & Jimmy Uso

CM Punk and LA Knight couldn’t get along as partners.

Later, Punk was able to tag in and get things going for his team, hitting Jimmy with a flying elbow drop. Jimmy slipped away when Punk set him up for the GTS finisher and tagged in Jey. Jey hit a splash from the top rope, but Knight broke up the pin attempt. Knight hit Jimmy with his BFT finisher, only to get hit with a superkick from Jey. Jey then speared Punk and climbed the ropes, but jumped back down to knock Knight off the apron instead of finishing the match.

This gave Punk the time to recover and hit Jey with a GTS. As Punk was about to make the cover, Knight tagged himself in. He then stole the pin on Jey, getting the victory for their team.

Winners: CM Punk and LA Knight
