In a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, rising NXT star Blake Monroe discussed her journey in WWE thus far, her character’s evolution, and her deep-seated belief that she is a natural heel. Monroe admitted that joining the company was initially intimidating, but says she is now starting to find her footing.
“It takes time to let people know you,” Monroe said. “I feel like the fans are starting to be like, ‘She’s our girl now,’ and embrace me. I see the Blake Monroe shirts… I feel like I’m finding my feet.”
She explained that her “Glamour” persona is something she’s had throughout her career, but WWE has helped her make it a more well-rounded character. “The Glamour is something I’ve kept with me since the Indies… I feel like WWE have taken it and just put the WWE touch on it,” she said. “The Glamour is one thing, but she’s very light and airy. And I feel like the ‘Woman From Hell’ side of it is like we all have a bad side… it makes me feel like a more complete package.”
Monroe was adamant that she thrives as a heel and has no desire to be liked by the audience. “To my bones, I am a heel. I’m not likable,” she declared. “When I watch movies, I love villains. It is so fun to be so awful… If I’m a heel, I don’t want people to like me. I feel like as a heel, I’m not afraid to do heelish things. I think some of my experience in wrestling, I’ve seen a lot of heels want to be cool… I don’t want to do that.”
Blake Monroe signed with WWE in early 2025 after a successful run in AEW. She has quickly established herself as a top heel in the NXT women’s division, most recently competing in a Weaponized Steel Cage match against TNA’s Jordynne Grace at the No Mercy event.
