WWE’s Plans For Roman Reigns At Survivor Series Revealed

The next major match for “The Tribal Chief” Roman Reigns, following his return, may be inside the brutal confines of WarGames. According to a new report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the current plan for Reigns at the upcoming Survivor Series premium live event is for him to compete in the titular WarGames match, rather than a one-on-one contest.

The event, which will take place on Saturday, November 29, in San Diego, California, has become synonymous with the two-ring steel cage match, and Reigns’ involvement would place him at the center of a faction warfare main event that has been building on television for months.

“I think Roman’s definitely doing the San Diego show, but he’s not in a singles match in San Diego, he’s in the WarGames, unless they change,” Meltzer stated. He also noted that a potential singles match between Reigns and his long-time rival, World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins, is not expected to happen any time soon, likely not until WrestleMania 42 at the earliest. “There’s no Roman Reigns/Seth Rollins match before at the earliest January, and I doubt January because I’m sure they’ll both be in the Rumble. So, I think it’s probably WrestleMania as a guess,” Meltzer added.

A WarGames match would be the logical next step in the ongoing feud between the newly reformed Bloodline and The Vision. The rivalry has been brewing since WrestleMania 41, where Seth Rollins defeated Roman Reigns and CM Punk after a double betrayal from Paul Heyman, who aligned himself with Rollins. Reigns was written off television by an attack from Rollins and his new stablemate, Bron Breakker.

After a three-month absence, Reigns returned on the July 14 episode of Raw to save CM Punk and Jey Uso from an attack by Breakker and Bronson Reed. This led to Reigns and Jey Uso defeating Breakker and Reed at SummerSlam. The feud has only intensified since, with The Vision attacking Reigns after his match at Clash in Paris, writing him off television once again so he could film the “Street Fighter” movie.

With Roman Reigns now back and aligned with The Usos, and The Vision (Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed) continuing their reign on top, the stage is perfectly set for a five-on-five WarGames showdown. Before he gets to Survivor Series, however, Reigns must first get through Bronson Reed in a one-on-one Street Fight at the Crown Jewel event in Perth, Australia, on October 11.
