On a recent episode of The Battleground podcast, WWE Raw star Bronson Reed discussed his experience working with Paul Heyman and revealed that his addition to The Vision faction was a last-minute creative decision.
Reed, who was a fan of ECW, expressed that working with Heyman has been a career aspiration. “Honestly, for me, you know, I was a huge wrestling fan, and specifically ECW, so it’s a bit of a dream come true for me,” Reed said. “If I could have asked myself, you know, five years ago, who would you want to be managing you as a pro wrestler, I would pick Paul Heyman. So he is a wealth of knowledge when it comes to this business. So I feel like, if anything, I sort of make sure to pick his brain as much as possible, because that just helps me with my career”.
The opportunity to work with Heyman on-screen came together quickly. Reed explained that he was returning from a serious injury and was unaware of the creative plans for him until just before it happened. “I really found out, I think it might have been like two days before that, that was the plans going ahead, and I was ecstatic,” he revealed.
The on-screen pairing was a natural extension of a relationship that had already been developing behind the scenes. “I was already sort of working backstage with Heyman before my injury,” Reed said. “He was helping me with with promos and just stuff with my character. But now I was like, oh, it’s going to be on screen”.
He also addressed the initial fan reaction to him joining forces with his former rival, Seth Rollins. “At first, you know, some people were like, ‘Why would Seth and Bronson be teaming together?’ But that’s sort of what you got to do, you know, you keep your enemies closer,” Reed stated.
Reed explained that the dynamic of The Vision allows for both group and individual success. “I always knew that The Vision as a group, the way that we were going to work, is we were going to expand. And that’s us all doing our own things individually, but also then still coming back to be on the same page,” he said. “You get to see the best of Bron, the best of me, the best of Seth, and it makes us even stronger”.
