WWE Locks Down A Former World Champion For The Rest Of The Decade

Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston has re-signed with WWE on a new long-term contract, according to a report from Fightful Select. The news comes just a day after his New Day stablemate, Xavier Woods, also confirmed he had signed a new multi-year deal with the company.

The report states that Kingston re-signed with the company “at some point earlier this year” and that WWE sources believe it to be a five-year contract. This new deal would keep the veteran performer with WWE until 2030, when he will be nearly 49 years old.

Kingston is one of the most decorated champions in WWE history, most notably holding the WWE Championship, which he won at WrestleMania 35 in a celebrated moment. He is also recognized as one of the most accomplished tag team wrestlers in the company’s history, holding numerous tag team titles as a member of The New Day.

Kingston and his partner, Xavier Woods, were drafted to the Raw brand in the 2023 WWE Draft and have remained there since. Over the past year, The New Day has been involved in several prominent storylines, including a feud with Karrion Kross and his Final Testament faction. The storyline saw Kross attempt to drive a wedge between the longtime partners, though the feud concluded with The New Day picking up a six-man tag team victory on the August 19 episode of Raw.

Following their heel turn this year, the duo went on to win the World Tag Team Championship at WrestleMania 41, holding the titles for 72 days. They have reinvented themselves with a new attitude and look during his heel run.
