WWE Announces First-Time Ever Match

A first-time-ever matchup has been added to the card for this Tuesday’s episode of WWE NXT, as two of the brand’s top rising stars, Blake Monroe and Zaria, are set to go one-on-one. For Monroe, it is an opportunity to rebound from a string of losses, while for Zaria, it is a chance to make a statement in her first televised singles match since June.

Blake Monroe is coming off an unsuccessful challenge against TNA’s Jordynne Grace in a weaponized steel cage match at the recent NXT No Mercy premium live event. That loss was her second straight defeat in major matches, and she will be looking to get back on the winning track and re-establish herself as a top contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Since her arrival in NXT in June, the former AEW Women’s World Champion has been positioned as a major star, and a victory over an opponent like Zaria would be a crucial step in her journey to the top of the brand.

Zaria has been primarily focused on the tag team division in recent months, where she has formed a successful partnership with the NXT Women’s North American Champion, Sol Ruca. This singles match against a high-profile opponent like Blake Monroe is a major opportunity for Zaria to showcase her individual skills.

The match is part of a loaded card for this Tuesday’s NXT, which will also feature the fallout from the Showdown special. A battle royal featuring talent from both the NXT and TNA rosters will be held to determine the next challenger for Jacy Jayne’s NXT Women’s Championship at Halloween Havoc.

The show will also see the in-ring debut of El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. against Lexis King, and a grudge match between Josh Briggs and TNA’s Matt Cardona.
