Tony Khan Comments On Koba Ibushi Injury That Took Place On AEW Collision

During the Saturday, October 11 broadcast of AEW Collision from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida, wrestler Kota Ibushi sustained a leg injury. The incident occurred in the opening contest of the evening, which pitted Ibushi against Josh Alexander. The match was stopped due to the injury, and AEW President Tony Khan later issued a statement regarding the situation.

Alexander put Ibushi up on the top turnbuckle and got into position for what looked like a death Valley Driver, but Alexander lost his balance and Ibushi ended up going backwards onto the barricade from above the top rope.

Following the fall, Ibushi began grabbing at his lower body, prompting the referee to exit the ring to check on his condition. As ringside medical staff attended to Ibushi, the referee began his count. Ibushi was unable to return to the ring, and the referee counted him out, awarding the victory to Josh Alexander. Ibushi was transported from the ringside area on a stretcher.

After the event, AEW President Tony Khan took to social media to address Ibushi’s condition and express his admiration for the performer. Khan confirmed it was a leg injury and shared his thoughts on Ibushi’s status within the industry and the company.

In his post, Khan wrote, “We are all very grateful for The Golden Star, Kota Ibushi. In my opinion, he’s one of the greatest wrestlers that I’ve ever seen. He is adored by the AEW locker room and fans worldwide. We wish him the best as he recovers from the leg injury he suffered on AEW Collision tonight!”
