At TNA’s Bound For Glory 2025, the X-Division Championship match between champion Je’Von Evans and challenger Leon Slater concluded without a definitive winner. The bout was declared a no-contest after the faction known as Dark State interfered, attacking both competitors and forcing the referee to stop the match. The controversial ending and the athletic nature of the contest drew reactions from fans and fellow wrestlers, including Osiris Griffin, who commented on the passionate fan response via social media.
The championship contest was characterized by a fast-paced, high-impact style. Early in the match, Slater gained a near-fall after a dropkick and later scored another two-count with a sling-shot cutter. The action spilled to the outside, where Evans executed a rolling DDT and an O.G. cutter on the ring apron. Both competitors narrowly avoided a count-out, re-entering the ring at the count of nine. In a later sequence, Evans pushed Slater off the barricade into the crowd, following up with a running dive over the barrier. Slater retaliated with a dive of his own before the official time limit of the match expired.
Following the expiration of the time limit, TNA Director of Authority Santino Marella appeared and ordered the match to continue for an additional five minutes. Seizing the opportunity, Slater hit his signature move, the Utopia, causing Evans to roll to the arena floor. Slater then performed a dive over the ring post onto Evans.
Once the action returned to the ring, Evans countered with a Spanish Fly on Slater and attempted a pin. At that moment, the arena lights went out. When the lights returned, the members of Dark State were present in the ring. The group proceeded to attack both Evans and Slater, delivering a double-team powerbomb to each man. In response to the assault, the referee officially waved off the match, resulting in a no-contest.
In the aftermath of the match, fellow wrestler Osiris Griffin took to social media to comment on the heated fan discourse surrounding the finish. Griffin posted two messages, tweeting, “Dudes with wives and kids losing sleep over some gymnastics,” and “Oh they mad. Grown ass men over 2 kids fighting.” His comments pointed to the passionate, and at times intense, reactions from the audience regarding the inconclusive result of the title match between the two young athletes.
