New information has emerged about Andrade’s status and why he has not been featured on AEW television since his return to the company. Andrade made his surprise return on the October 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, aligning himself with the Don Callis Family and immediately starting a feud with Kenny Omega. However, there has been no follow-up to the angle in the following weeks, leaving many fans to wonder about his absence.
Reason for AEW TV Absence
According to a new report from Bryan Alvarez, Andrade’s lack of television time is not due to an injury. Reporting on the situation, Bryan Alvarez stated, “Regarding Andrade, all I know is that he’s not injured, and something is holding him up regarding his non-compete with WWE.”
What specific detail in his non-compete clause is preventing him from appearing on AEW programming is not known at this time. This marks a unique situation for the wrestler, who has made history as the first performer to go from WWE to AEW, back to WWE, and then back to AEW again.
Conflicting Non-Compete Information
Typically, main roster WWE talent has a 90-day non-compete clause in their contracts upon being released. However, a previous report from PWInsider following his WWE departure stated that Andrade’s release was due to multiple wellness policy failures.
That report suggested WWE made the decision to release him outright rather than pay him during a standard non-compete period, which would contradict the current information that a non-compete is what is holding him up.
Recent In-Ring Activity
While he has been absent from AEW Dynamite, Andrade has wrestled since his return. On October 3, just two days after his appearance on Dynamite, Andrade competed for The Crash promotion in Mexico. In that match, he was successful, winning the promotion’s Heavyweight Championship.
He was also scheduled for an independent match against LA Park on October 26 for Mucha Lucha Atlanta in Norcross, Georgia, but that match is no longer being advertised by the promotion.
