Top WWE SmackDown Star Expected To Miss Significant Time

WWE Superstar Jacob Fatu is reportedly set to miss a considerable amount of in-ring time due to injury, with a potential return not happening until well into 2026. The news comes just as Fatu was involved in a storyline on Friday Night SmackDown with Drew McIntyre. The injury is said to have occurred outside of the ring and is not related to his professional wrestling work

Extended Period on the Sidelines

The report of the injury was first published by BodySlam.net on Thursday. According to the report, the 33-year-old Fatu is dealing with a non-wrestling-related injury that will keep him out of action for “an extended period of time.” The recovery could reportedly last into next year, sidelining the former Bloodline member for the foreseeable future. Fatu’s last match was a dark match street fight against Rusev, which took place on September 12.

Scrapped Storyline with Drew McIntyre

The injury comes at an unfortunate time, as Fatu was scheduled for a match against Drew McIntyre on this Friday’s episode of SmackDown in San Jose, California. The match was the culmination of a recent feud that began a couple of weeks ago when Fatu confronted McIntyre. During the segment, Fatu called out McIntyre for consistently complaining and blaming others for his problems.

The confrontation escalated when McIntyre delivered a headbutt, and Fatu responded by laying him out. The two had a brawl on last Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

Jacob Fatu made his WWE debut in the summer of 2024, immediately making an impact by joining the villainous Bloodline faction. He aligned with Solo Sikoa, becoming an enforcer for the group during their dominant run on SmackDown. With Jacob Fatu now out of action, Drew McIntyre finds himself without a scheduled opponent for this week’s SmackDown and the foreseeable future.
