In an interview on the Battleground Podcast, Matt and Nick Jackson of The Young Bucks discussed their place in wrestling history, the current state of The Elite, and their upcoming match against the reunited Jurassic Express at AEW WrestleDream. The duo expressed confidence in their status as the greatest tag team of all time and shared their excitement about facing fellow AEW originals.
Ahead of their match this Saturday, Matt Jackson reflected on facing “Jungle” Jack Perry and Luchasaurus, describing the matchup as a nostalgic experience. “It’s kind of crazy that AEW has now been around long enough to already have a rich history with acts that feel, in a way, nostalgic,” Matt said. “Jurassic Express just feels warm, fun, and familiar. When their music hits, it just brings out the kid in everyone”.
The match comes at a time when The Young Bucks feel creatively rejuvenated. “We have really found that spark again, that love of the game,” Matt stated. “It’s been a year where we’ve really dug into our old bag of tricks and gone all out, so it only makes sense to go out there and kill it with two AEW originals”.
Regarding their faction, The Elite, Matt asserted their foundational role within the company. “We are the heart and soul of this place,” he said of AEW. He added that despite the absence of Kenny Omega, “The Elite is as strong as ever”.
When the conversation turned to their legacy, both brothers were unequivocal about their standing in the history of tag team wrestling. “We’re the best to ever do it,” Matt declared. “When we’re done, people are going to look back and go, ‘wow, they really were the greatest tag team of all time'”. Nick Jackson agreed, adding, “The numbers don’t lie… I think we’re the best and it’s not even close”.
