Mercedes Mone Issues Open Challenge For AEW WrestleDream

Mercedes Mone has officially thrown down the gauntlet for AEW’s WrestleDream pay-per-view, issuing an open challenge for her TBS Championship. The challenge came after a successful title defense outside of AEW.

Following her successful defense of the CMLL World Women’s Championship against Persephone at Arena Mexico on Friday night, October 17, Mone addressed the crowd. She took the microphone and declared an open challenge specifically for the AEW WrestleDream event. Mone challenged “any champion in the world” to face her for the AEW TBS Championship at the pay-per-view.

During the same post-match promo, Mone also addressed the CMLL Women’s Championship. She accepted a future title challenge from Olympia, who confronted her after the match. However, Mone added a specific stipulation, stating that the championship bout must take place in the United States, not in Mexico.

This open challenge provides clarity on Mone’s role at WrestleDream. Earlier in the week on AEW Dynamite, Mone had confirmed she would be present at the event in St. Louis but remained coy about what exactly she would be doing there. Now, she has positioned herself for a title defense against potentially any champion from any promotion willing to step up.

Mercedes Mone’s open challenge adds another match to the already stacked AEW WrestleDream card. As of Saturday morning, October 18, no specific challenger has officially answered Mone’s call for the TBS Championship match. The event is scheduled to take place later tonight, featuring Jon Moxley vs. Darby Allin in an “I Quit” match, Samoa Joe challenging Hangman Page for the World Title, and other matches.
