Following the recent passing of Bobby “Sir Mo” Horne, a fundraiser has been established to assist his family with outstanding medical bills and newly incurred funeral expenses. Horne, known to WWE fans as half of the 1990s tag team Men on a Mission, passed away on October 20 after a severe health battle.
The fundraiser, titled “#SirMoOnAMission Bobby Horne” on Spotfund, was originally created to help with the mounting medical costs from his recent hospitalization. It has now been updated by his family to cover funeral costs.
In an update posted by one of Horne’s daughters, Chelsea, she confirmed the family’s wishes. “Bobby Horne will be laid to rest in Monroe, North Carolina, next to his sweet mama, as were his wishes,” she wrote. “Denise Jones [Horne’s partner] and I are joining hearts and minds with his family in North Carolina as we work together to bring him home.”
The post also detailed the family’s difficult situation. “In the midst of the phone calls and tears we have realized honestly how unprepared we were for this to happen. We did not anticipate loosing him so soon, and it hurts so much,” she continued. “As you know, there are costs to final services and getting him flown back to NC to be laid to rest, and we are asking for your help.”
The fundraiser page chronicled Horne’s health struggle over the past few weeks. Earlier updates noted he was in the ICU battling pneumonia, a severe bacterial infection, and septic shock. He was intubated and receiving 24/7 dialysis. An update from October 14, shared by his daughter, stated, “The doctors have told us on 3 separate occasions that he may not make it through the night… But he didn’t. He fought through and they were able to restart Dialysis this morning. Y’all this man is such a fighter.”
Horne, a veteran of the wrestling industry, was known for his positive babyface character in the WWF alongside his partner Mabel (Nelson Frazier). The fundraiser organizer, Jessica Maldonado, paid tribute to his work outside the ring. “His mission was to reach a million children and help to bring them out of whatever uncomfortable situations they may have been in and give them an opportunity to do something greater through professional wrestling,” she wrote. “We have not yet reached 1 million, but I know his legacy will.”
The family’s request concluded by asking for support. “Please continue your prayers. There are sadly still medical bills to pay, funeral costs, and other expenses that will be beyond uncomfortable to handle as we mourn… Every single cent donated at this link will go towards services for Bobby Horne.” Click here if you’d like to help out the family.
