Billy Gunn, who is in his 60s, remains an active in-ring competitor in All Elite Wrestling after a career spanning nearly 40 years. Gunn recently guest appeared on Fuel & Flex with Charlie William Parks and spoke about how he maintains his physical condition.
He discussed his workout methods, and while talking about his love for doing squats, Gunn revealed that he deals with a significant injury. “I love to squat. I don’t know what it is. I’m not a huge squatter. I don’t know what it is. I love the feeling, I love the movement,” Gunn said. “But I have two stress fractures in my back that absolutely smoke me when I do it”.
Despite the pain from the stress fractures, Gunn noted that he is determined to continue squatting and has found a safer way to perform the exercise. “I refuse not to do it. I’m not gonna do it. I found ways to make myself feel safer doing it just in case my back — every time I squat, I box squat.
I just stretch and go, only because if something goes, I know that I have something that I can go to instead of going whoom! Trying to wipe out half the gym,” Gunn laughed.
Gunn currently has a double contract with All Elite Wrestling, serving as both a producer and an active talent. We wish him a speedy recovery.
