Andrade recently took to X to reflect on his 22nd anniversary in professional wrestling, sharing details about his humble beginnings and the immense personal sacrifices he has made for his career.
Andrade’s debut at age 13:
Andrade began his post by marking the exact date of his start in the business. “On October 18, 2003, My debut as a professional wrestler,” he wrote. He revealed that his first paycheck was “$4 dls. 80 pesos Mexicanos,” and that he was “only 13 years old.”
At that age, his focus was singular. “All I cared about was wrestling and enjoying the business,” Andrade wrote. “I invested so much of my time in the business.”
The Sacrifices of the Business
That investment came at a significant personal cost. Andrade revealed that he missed his mother’s passing while he was overseas for a major WWE event. “When I was in Saudi Arabia, my mother passed away, and I didn’t get back in time to say goodbye. Championship match vs Finn Balor,” he shared.
He then revealed a similar, more recent incident that occurred this year. “This year 2025 something similar happened to me in Europe: my father almost died, and I wasn’t there anyway, and more.”
Andrade concluded his post by noting that these heartbreaking situations are a difficult part of the profession. “These are things you do because l love the business and this happens in many companies,” he wrote.
