The WWE Intercontinental Championship picture was thrown into chaos on Monday Night Raw. A #1 contender’s match between Rusev and Penta to determine the next challenger for Dominik ended in disaster, leading to a major championship match being booked for Saturday Night Main Event.
#1 Contender’s Match Ends in Chaos
Rusev and Penta were in the middle of a hard-fought match. Penta managed to block Rusev’s Accolade and successfully hit the Penta Driver for a near fall. As the two men were on their knees exchanging punches, the match came to an abrupt end when all three members of Los Americanos hit the ring.
Rayo, Bravo, and El Grande attacked both Rusev and Penta, causing a no-contest. As Los Americanos celebrated in the ring, Rusev fought back, attacking Rayo and Bravo and sending them out of the ring. Penta then set up El Grande for a move, but Rayo and Bravo quickly returned to pull their leader out of the ring to safety.
Backstage Fallout
Later in the show, Dominik was seen backstage with Los Americanos. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce entered the room, and Los Americanos left. Dominik told Pearce that it was crazy that Los Americanos came up with the idea all on their own to attack Penta and Rusev. Dominik suggested that the two men would now be forced to go after Los Americanos.
Pearce, however, had other plans. He informed Dominik that Penta and Rusev would not be going after the Americanos. Instead, Pearce announced they are going after Dominik in a Triple Threat Match at Saturday Night Main Event for the Intercontinental Championship.
Saturday Night’s Main Event will take place November 1, 2025 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, Utah
