WWE superstar Nattie Neidhart joined “The Velvet Ropes with SoCal Val” for an exclusive WrestlingNews.Co interview to discuss her new book, “The Last Hart Beating,” which is released today, October 28, 2025. Host SoCal Val opened the discussion by praising the memoir’s title, noting, “It’s a powerful title for your new book. And to be honest, I read that title a few times today, and genuinely, I got teary eyed”. Neidhart explained that the title came to her relatively easily, thanks to an unexpected source: a compliment from WWE Hall of Famer Booker T.
Detailing the origin, Neidhart recalled an interview Booker T had done where he was asked about her. “Booker T had done an interview, and somebody had asked him about, you know, he was so sweet. He was putting me over,” Neidhart said. “He was like, Nattie’s the best because she’s still standing, she’s been doing this for so long, and she’s like, the Tupac song, Last Muthaf**ka Breathin”.
That specific phrase from the Tupac song “Breathing” immediately resonated with her. “He said that in an interview, and I said to TJ, I’m like, that’s the name of my book,” she recalled. “I’m like, Booker T really did help name my book because I was like, the last… I love Tupac. So it’s coming as a little bit of a Tupac reference from his song ‘Breathing.’ But Booker T, you’re getting all the credit for this”.
Beyond the pop culture connection, the title “The Last Hart Beating” carries a deep personal significance for Neidhart regarding her role in her family’s legendary dynasty. “When I think about my career, I’m like, Man, I’m the last heart beating. I’m the last one doing this. I’m the last one in my family that is in WWE and competing,” she stated. “Where my family… my whole family has, you know, from my grandfather to my dad to my uncles, we just had this really cool, very, like, just very layered, storied career, you know, careers in the company. I’m the last one here in the company still doing this”.
Neidhart reflected on the fact that she was arguably the “least likely” in her family to not only join the profession but to survive in it for so long. “Listen, for anyone to have over a two decade career in wrestling is unheard of, especially a woman,” Neidhart said. She noted her upcoming anniversary: “So for me … in January it’ll be 19 years with WWE and… it’s been uninterrupted. You know, sometimes people leave, sometimes they come back, sometimes they have a movie”.
Neidhart also shared the overwhelmingly positive early feedback for the book. She explained that the publishing house conducted a “field study,” distributing 50 advanced copies to a mix of readers. “They wanted to see… what people were thinking,” she explained. “Some of them weren’t wrestling fans. Some of them didn’t ever watch WWE, but they were just like, pro readers. We’ve been getting like, five star reviews across the board. People just love the book”.
She expressed particular satisfaction that the book connects with non-wrestling fans, drawing a parallel to her experience on the E! reality series Total Divas. “I love seeing when people don’t know anything about wrestling, I love seeing that they love the book because that’s how I wrote the book,” Neidhart said. “I wrote the book so that it was a really easy read… if you’ve never watched it, that’s kind of another thing that, like, that’s why I love doing Total Divas so much, because a lot of our viewers on Total Divas they had never seen or heard of WWE”.
Total Divas, which ran for nine seasons, was instrumental in bringing a new, predominantly female audience to the WWE product. “A lot of them… they were people that were watching the Kardashians, or they were watching Bravo,” Neidhart explained. “And then they would fall in love with WWE. Moms that would watch Total Divas would bring their kids to watch WWE shows”.
Neidhart cited current WWE star Roxanne Perez as a direct example of that show’s extensive reach and influence. “That’s how I met Roxy tonight is actually facing Nikki Bella on Raw,” Neidhart shared. “She came to one of our shows, and she was like, ‘you know, I love Total Divas, and I want to get into wrestling.’ I love… she’s inspired to do this. Now she’s doing it”.
The interview underscored Neidhart’s goal for the book to have a broad appeal, reaching audiences both inside and outside the wrestling world, much like her television career did.
“The Last Hart Beating” is available now everywhere books are sold, including Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
