Former TNA World Champion’s Contract Is Reportedly Expiring Soon

An update has surfaced regarding the contract status of the current TNA International Champion, Steve Maclin. As previously reported by Fightful Select, Maclin’s TNA contract is indeed set to expire at the end of 2025. He had re-signed with the company on a one-year agreement when his prior contract concluded last year.

Recent Championship History

Maclin has been a focal point of the TNA International Championship scene for the past several months. This new title was established earlier in 2025, with Maclin becoming the inaugural champion by defeating Eric Young and AJ Francis in a tournament final. His initial reign was interrupted when Frankie Kazarian defeated him for the title at the Victory Road event. However, Maclin quickly regained the championship, defeating Kazarian at TNA Bound For Glory earlier this month.

Maclin’s Journey to TNA

Before joining TNA, Maclin, then known as Steve Cutler, spent nearly seven years in WWE, primarily performing on the NXT brand. During his WWE tenure, he was most often paired with Wesley Blake. The duo, along with Baron Corbin, had a short run as a stable on the main roster before Maclin and Blake were released in early 2021.

Maclin signed with TNA later that same year, embarking on a singles career. He reached the pinnacle of the promotion in 2023, capturing the TNA World Championship. His world title reign lasted 54 days before he was defeated by Alex Shelley. Fightful Select previously noted Maclin is well-regarded backstage.
