A new update has emerged on a Chris Jericho trademark filing amid speculation about his potential AEW departure and a move to WWE. Jericho is known to file for more trademarks than any other wrestler, making the most out of his catchphrases and nicknames.
However, a lot of those filings end up being abandoned before they are finalized, and there has been another recent example of that. In October 2025, Jericho’s trademark filing for ‘The Jericho Vortex’ was ruled dead and abandoned. The filing was initially made back in April 2024.
The notice states: “The application above is abandoned because we did not receive within six months of the Notice of Allowance (NOA) issue date: (1) A Statement of Use (SOU); or (2) A Request for Extension of Time to File a Statement of Use (Extension Request).”
If Chris Jericho wishes to revive the trademark application, he must file within the next two months. This comes as Jericho has been absent from AEW television since April 2025, with expectations that he may be leaving the company.
Speculation about his future has increased as his AEW contract reportedly ends at the end of 2025. AEW CEO Tony Khan recently stated that Jericho is “always a welcome, big part of AEW.” However, Jericho himself noted in a September interview with The Daily Mail that he “wouldn’t be opposed to” a WWE return. Many people in WWE expect Jericho to make a return to the company.
