Drew McIntyre says he would be happy to knock Tyson Fury’s head into next week, referencing their infamous encounter at WWE Clash At The Castle 2022.
At that event, Fury was in attendance as McIntyre unsuccessfully challenged for the WWE Universal Championship. After McIntyre was screwed over by The Bloodline, he and Fury sent the crowd home with a song, a moment McIntyre has stated he resents to this day.
While speaking to Sport Bible in a new interview, McIntyre joked about the sing-along. “Maybe it was that little song, right there, my angelic voice, was heard by Noel and Liam, maybe they were inspired and thought, ‘You know what? We need to get back together, lads. Let’s reunite the band, because Drew was just so inspiring in that sing-along right there’”.
McIntyre then addressed whether there were ever follow-up plans for an angle with Fury, before making it clear he still wants a match. “I don’t believe there was anything planned after that with Tyson. There was conversations, as far as I know. I wasn’t privy to them. But I’d be happy to knock the big dosser’s head into next week. I’ve always said that. What’s he going to do when he’s on his back?”
McIntyre faces Cody Rhodes for the WWE Title at tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event.
