Backstage News On MJF’s AEW Status Amid Hiatus

A new report has provided an update on the status of former AEW World Champion MJF, who has been off television while pursuing acting roles. Fightful Select is reporting that MJF is set to finish filming for the movie Violent Night 2 “relatively soon.”

MJF’s Acting Career

However, it is not known when he is set to return to AEW television. According to the report, MJF has “the acting bug” and has spoken about how much he has enjoyed the filming process. In addition to his role in Violent Night 2, MJF also played Lance Von Erich in The Iron Claw. He had a more prominent role in Happy Gilmore 2, playing the titular character’s son.

Absence Storyline

MJF has not been seen on AEW programming since he lost a tables and thumbtacks match to Mark Briscoe at All Out. In a promo that aired after his loss, MJF said he would leave and not return until he is “one of the most dangerous men in the business.” He added that he would take his spot at the top and do it “his way.”

Prior to his departure, MJF had goaded Hangman Page into defending the AEW World Championship against him without using the contract he won at All In. MJF failed to capture the title at Forbidden Door due to a distraction from Mark Briscoe, which ultimately led to their match at All Out where Briscoe was victorious.
