WATCH: JBL Attacks Patrick Clark At MCW Event

A WWE Hall of Famer made an appearance at a Maryland Championship Wrestling event to take out a former WWE talent. The promotion was in the city of Dundalk for the sixth stop on their Autumn Armageddon tour.

MCW Moment

One of the matches on the card featured former WWE talent Patrick Clark, known as Velveteen Dream, facing Javari Wolf. Clark won the bout. Following the match, WWE Hall of Famer JBL (John Bradshaw Layfield) made his way to the ring. JBL hit Clark with a Clothesline from Hell and also attacked an individual who was accompanying Clark.

This appearance at MCW was a homecoming for Patrick Clark Jr., who trained at the MCW Pro Wrestling training center. He debuted for the promotion on October 3, 2014, and found early success there, winning the MCW Tag Team Championship with Lio Rush in October 2015.

Clark’s Background

Clark was a contestant on the 2015 season of WWE Tough Enough. Despite not winning, he was signed to a developmental contract and assigned to NXT. In 2017, he debuted the Prince-inspired Velveteen Dream character and became a one-time NXT North American Champion.

In April 2020, Clark was accused of sending indecent images to underage boys, which he denied. WWE reportedly investigated the allegations but found no evidence of wrongdoing. Clark was released from his WWE contract in May 2021, following a period of inactivity. In August 2022, Clark was arrested twice in Florida on charges including first-degree battery, trespassing, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The battery and trespassing charges were dropped the following month.

At the start of 2024, Clark issued an apology to his family, WWE, Triple H, Shawn Michaels, and Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis. He returned to wrestling in February 2024 and made his return to MCW in September of that year.
