Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes has spoken about his history with Seth Rollins, confirming the nature of Rollins’ recent injury. As a result of a shoulder injury, Rollins was forced to relinquish the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Rollins’ last match before stepping away was against Rhodes at the WWE Crown Jewel Premium Live Event, where they competed for the men’s Crown Jewel Championship.
While appearing on ALL THE SMOKE, Rhodes confirmed that Rollins suffered the injury during their latest bout and has since undergone surgery.
‘We Don’t Need To Wrestle Ever Again’
Rhodes joked that he and Rollins never need to wrestle each other again because of the injuries that have happened either leading up to or during their one-on-one matches.
“Seth Rollins and I recently wrestled at Crown Jewel, and Seth finally beat me. I’d beat him three times before. Nobody had sweeped him like that. But he tore his — I don’t know — I wanna say his rotator cuff. We don’t have an actual answer… But Seth, I know, has gone under the knife and got surgery, so, at this point, real, not real, however you look at the industry, him and I aren’t good for each other. We don’t need to wrestle ever again.”
A History Of Injuries
This was a reference to Rhodes’ own major injury during their 2022 feud, where he famously wrestled Rollins inside Hell in a Cell with a completely torn pectoral muscle. “He’s lost a shoulder. That was the first major injury I ever had. But, I was glad to be in the ring with him that night. It was special.”
The injury to Rollins has completely altered the landscape of Monday Night Raw. Rollins recently appeared on Good Morning Football and confirmed that he expects to be out of action for six months following his shoulder surgery. CM Punk won the World Heavyweight Championship he vacated at Saturday Night’s Main Event on November 1. Rollins was also kicked out of his own faction, The Vision, with Bron Breakker, Bronson Reed, and Paul Heyman attacking him on Raw. Meanwhile, Cody Rhodes continues his reign as Undisputed WWE Champion, having successfully defended his title against Drew McIntyre at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
