A major update has emerged regarding Drew McIntyre’s WWE contract. One of the most popular stars on the roster, McIntyre has been highlighted as a main-event star since his return to the promotion several years ago. After re-signing with WWE last year, a new report from Fightful Select has revealed that The Scottish Warrior is expected to remain with WWE at least until WrestleMania 2028.
JCW Hopes Dashed
This report seems to put an end to any speculation about McIntyre’s immediate future outside of WWE. Recently, former WWE writer Vince Russo invited McIntyre to work for JCW when his deal expires.
According to the report, this invitation stemmed from McIntyre previously opening up about how he wanted to work for Juggalo Championship Wrestling during his indie days, a goal which never ended up happening. Given the length of his new WWE contract, that appearance does not seem likely to occur for a long time.
Recent Title Opportunity
McIntyre remains a top figure in WWE’s main event scene. He recently fought Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship on the November 1st edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event. McIntyre was unsuccessful in his attempt to capture the title from Rhodes at the Premium Live Event.
With his pursuit of the Undisputed WWE Championship stalled, it is unclear what McIntyre’s next move will be. The Raw brand just began a 16-man tournament to determine John Cena’s final opponent, and it is possible McIntyre could find his way into that bracket as he searches for a new path forward.
