AEW Trios Championship Match Made After Tense Standoff
A new AEW World Trios Championship match has been set following a chaotic confrontation on Dynamite. The champions, The Opps (Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, & Katsuyori Shibata), will defend their titles against a new trio of “Hangman” Adam Page, Eddie Kingston, and Hook.
The Confrontation
The segment began with Tony Schiavone in the ring to announce a new National Championship. He was quickly interrupted by The Opps, who came to the ring.
Samoa Joe immediately confronted Schiavone, telling him he “finds it hard” to believe that Schiavone had nothing to do with “Hangman” Adam Page disguising himself as the announcer last week.
As officials entered the ring to separate Joe and Schiavone, Hangman Page himself made his way to the ring. Seeing both Page and Schiavone, Joe remarked, “now we can take care of two problems at once.”
The Challenge
Schiavone quickly left the ring as Joe, Shibata, and Hobbs exited to the floor. As The Opps regrouped, Eddie Kingston and Hook entered the ring to stand alongside Page.
With the three challengers united in the ring, The Opps began to leave the area. Hook then grabbed a microphone and issued a direct challenge to The Opps for their AEW World Trios Championship.
From the ramp, Samoa Joe accepted the challenge. Tony Schiavone then got on the mic to announce that AEW President Tony Khan had agreed and the match is now official.
