Maxxine Dupri has revealed that they are hopeful for the return of a reality TV show that gave an inside look into their personal lives. Total Divas ran on E! Television between July 2013 and December 2019, earning two Teen Choice Awards nominations. While WWE continues to explore reality television through the A&E WWE LFG competition series, Maxxine Dupri is hoping that Total Divas may make a comeback.
Pitching A Reboot
Appearing on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Dupri shared her love of Total Divas, The Bella Twins, and Natalya. When asked about a reboot of the show and the WWE stars who should be in it, she said:
“We have to have Chelsea (Green). We have to have Tiffany (Stratton). We need Bianca (Belair). We need Nattie. I need Naomi, pregnant or not. She’d better be clocking in for this. Oh, my gosh, we have so many good people. This is hard. I also think Jackie (Redmond) and Cathy (Kelley) would be amazing. There’s just so many people in our locker room. We need Roxanne (Perez). There’s too many. I’m going to name the full roster. It would be so good.”
With Van Vliet sharing his surprise that the series hasn’t made a comeback yet, Dupri would share the sentiment, stating, “You’re telling me. I would love it. On Netflix, come on.”
‘A Diva At Heart’
Dupri would also note that the name could be changed due to a reluctance among some female WWE stars to be called a ‘Diva’. She explained why she feels she fits into a modern interpretation of that category.
“Although I would love to be a Diva, I know a lot of women are proud to not be called that. We could change the name. I think it’s that… and this is something where I think me and Chelsea (Green) really relate is we love to perform, we love to entertain. We love the new gear, we love coming up with different looks, hair and make up and all those things. I think even my moveset sometimes resembles more of that era. Although I do think that working with Chad (Gable) and Otis, I have taken bits of their amateur things, but to my core, I’m a Diva at heart.”
Although the reality show would run for several more years, WWE dropped the use of ‘Divas’ at WrestleMania 32 in April 2016. The decision would see women wrestlers referred to as ‘Superstars’ in the same way that the men’s roster had been, with a new WWE Women’s Championship being unveiled.
