David Otunga: Randy Orton Might “Be The Best I’ve Ever Worked With In The Ring”

David Otunga had high praise for Randy Orton during his appearance on TMZ’s Inside The Ring, calling him one of the best to ever do it and sharing stories about his backstage reputation.

“Randy is always one of my favorite performers,” Otunga said. “So Randy is one of the best guys. He might even be the best I’ve ever worked with in the ring. Like, technically, wow. Like, he’s such a natural, and everything is light, but looks amazing, and he’s so cool to work with”.

Orton’s Reputation

Otunga admitted he was nervous his first time working with Orton due to his infamous reputation for not tolerating mistakes.

“I was nervous because I wanted to put on a good performance, and I didn’t want to hurt him, like, I didn’t want to hit him too hard, because, like, I was green, and getting to work with Randy, like, that’s the that’s his reputation is, like, if you stiff him or whatever, he’ll go off. He might go off on you in the middle of match… luckily, you know, I was great. He always respected our matches. Like, we have that miracle on 34th Street match. That’s a Christmas classic… he trusted me to give him a suplex, like, outside of the ring, like on the floor, like, that’s legit”.

Taking the RKO

Otunga also recalled the experience of taking his first RKO from Orton, admitting he was “marking out.”

“It was awesome. And I’ll tell you what, I almost messed it up,” he said. “When he hooked me for it, I, in my mind, I was just staying there… I was like, Yo, this is dope. And I was like, oh, dummy, you got a bump, because he’s so light too… in my mind I was like, it’s kind of marking out for you. I’m taking an RKO.”

Otunga also confirmed rumors about Orton’s unique travel schedule. When asked if Orton arrived late, Otunga clarified, “he had his own bus. And so that’s the things. Like, as long as his bus was there, it didn’t matter, then he could walk in the arena, whatever he wanted… But if you wanted him, that’s the thing. If you wanted him, where’s Randy on his bus? And we’ll go through this match”.
