Chavo Guerrero: ‘I Just Re-Signed With WWE’

Chavo Guerrero Jr. confirmed he has re-signed with WWE and revealed his new role with the company during a recent interview with Bill Apter. Reports that Guerrero was back with WWE began after he was spotted backstage at the AAA Worlds Collide show in Inglewood, California, on June 7. Fightful later reported that Guerrero was telling people at the event he had returned to the company.

In his interview with Apter, Guerrero confirmed the news and specified his new duties. “I just re-signed with WWE. I’m putting together, helping out with their AAA show,” he said.

Guerrero On The WWE-AAA Relationship

Guerrero also shared his thoughts on AAA working under the WWE umbrella, praising the promotion with which he has strong family ties. “AAA is awesome, was always awesome. Lucha Libre, that’s where my family originated from. So I have a big love of Lucha Libre and just to see AAA under that WWE umbrella is pretty awesome.”

Comments On Dominik Mysterio

Guerrero was also asked about the current AAA Mega Champion, Dominik Mysterio, and the Guerrero-style tactics he has been using in his matches as of late. “He always wanted to be a Guerrero,” Chavo responded. “His dad’s Rey Mysterio, one of the best of all time, but he wanted to be like the Guerreros. So it’s pretty cool to see him actually trying to follow in those steps and kind of just using some lie, cheat, steal Guerrero-isms, it’s pretty cool to see.“

The comments reference a famous 2005 SmackDown storyline where, in storyline, Eddie Guerrero was revealed as Dominik’s biological father. Dominik has referenced this angle in recent promos. During a segment with Rey Mysterio two weeks ago, Dominik told Rey to “keep his father’s name” out of his mouth after Rey had mentioned Eddie.
